LABOR & EMPLOYMENT ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

Our client, a prestigious AmLaw 100 national law firm, is seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join their Labor & Employment Practice Group in Chicago. This is a tremendous opportunity for a junior-to-mid level associate to gain hands-on experience in both counseling and litigation while working alongside nationally recognized practitioners.

 

 

Candidate Profile

  • JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record
  • Active Bar Admission in Illinois, in good standing
  • 2–4 years of substantive labor and employment law experience
  • Background in employment counseling, transactional drafting, and litigation, including single-plaintiff and class/collective actions
  • Experience with issues such as hiring and separation, wage and hour, EEO, non-compete and trade secret disputes, handbook and policy reviews, corporate due diligence, accommodations and leave laws, and workplace investigations
  • Preference for candidates with traditional labor experience, including union-related matters, NLRB proceedings, arbitrations, and collective bargaining agreements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong public speaking ability
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and compliance in all legal matters
  • Collaborative, collegial, and committed to professional excellence
 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise employers on a wide range of employment law issues, including wage and hour, EEO, leave and accommodations, restrictive covenants, and employee separations
  • Draft employment agreements, workplace policies, handbooks, and transactional documents
  • Handle employment-related due diligence in corporate transactions
  • Represent clients in single-plaintiff and class/collective employment litigation matters
  • Support clients in internal investigations and regulatory compliance matters
  • Engage in traditional labor work, including NLRB proceedings, arbitrations, and collective bargaining negotiations
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice groups to provide comprehensive solutions to clients

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: $235,000 – $275,000, commensurate with experience
