SENIOR POLICY ADVISOR

APPROPRIATIONS FOCUS

 

Location: Washington, DC

 

 

Our client, an international Amlaw 50 firm with a renowned Lobbying & Public Policy practice, is seeking an experienced Senior Policy Advisor to join its Washington, D.C. office. This is a unique opportunity to advise clients on complex appropriations and federal funding matters, leveraging deep knowledge of congressional processes and budgetary legislation.

 

 

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic record required
  • JD from a top-tier law school or Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • Active Bar Admission in the District of Columbia (if JD holder) or relevant policy credentials.
  • 10+ years of substantive experience in appropriations, budgetary policy, or grants-related matters
  • Extensive experience with policy issues and legislation related to appropriations, budgeting, and federal funding
  • Required experience working on Capitol Hill, ideally with the House or Senate appropriations committees
  • Strong understanding of congressional appropriations cycles and federal grant programs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief stakeholders and craft persuasive advocacy strategies
  • Proven ability to navigate complex legislative and policy landscapes and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on appropriations, budgeting, and grant-related policy developments
  • Develop and execute advocacy strategies to secure federal funding for client programs and community projects
  • Engage directly with congressional committees, executive agencies, and key policymakers on appropriations issues
  • Monitor legislative developments and budget cycles to identify funding opportunities for clients
  • Collaborate with attorneys and policy professionals across the firm to provide integrated legal and policy solutions
  • Assist clients in preparing and submitting competitive grant applications

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $225,000 - $400,000 annually, as determined by experience and market factors.

  • Bonus Eligibility.
