Wastewater Operator

Position Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

This full-time position is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment related to water pre-treatment at a beef processing facility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain water pre-treatment systems including piping, pumps, valves, screening systems, dissolved air flotation (DAF) units, aeration systems, flow meters, and lagoons.

  • Record and monitor equipment readings; make operational adjustments as needed.

  • Oversee flow and treatment processes of raw water sources.

  • Monitor control panels and make necessary adjustments.

  • Conduct regular equipment inspections.

  • Perform water testing and collect samples as required.

  • Operate and maintain power-generating equipment when applicable.

  • Administer chemical treatments as necessary.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Federal, State, and Local environmental permits and regulations.

  • Maintain and promote safety standards at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Strong reading, writing, and math skills.

  • Ability to develop rapport and communicate effectively across diverse teams.

  • Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to see, hear, sit, stand, bend, walk, and speak for up to 12 hours per day.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to enter operational areas and tolerate exposure to hot and cold environments.

Work Environment:

  • Wet and moist floors, including metal and plastic grating surfaces.

  • Exposure to temperatures ranging from 28°F to 100°F, with varying humidity levels up to 100%.

  • Exposure to noise levels ranging from 50 dB to 110 dB.

  • Potential exposure to chemicals commonly used in beef processing facilities.
