Job Description

  • Represent clients in cases involving affordable housing, rent regulation, and human rights.
  • Appear before agencies such as the NYS Division of Human Rights, NYC Commission on Human Rights, DHCR, and in state Supreme Court.
  • Handle legal matters related to rent overcharge disputes, succession claims, harassment, and discrimination allegations.
  • Navigate deregulation issues, including substantial rehabilitation.
  • Advise clients on compliance under regulatory agreements with agencies like DHCR, HFA, and HUD.
  • Conduct due diligence for property acquisitions.
  • Manage affordable housing cases, including knowledge of voucher programs and other housing initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in litigation or administrative law, with a strong focus on real estate.
  • Expertise in affordable housing, rent regulation, and human rights cases.
  • Proven ability to handle cases independently and provide sound legal advice on compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Experience conducting due diligence during property transactions.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Portable business is a plus but not required.
