Our client in the finance industry is looking for a talented Software Engineering Manager to lead and grow their high-performing development team.  Ideal candidates will have experience with strategic planning, people management and hands-on leadership in software development. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle, strong communication skills and a forward-thinking approach to building scalable, secure and innovative software solutions.  The salary range is between $170,000 - $190,000 plus benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead projects from start to finish, ensuring goals are met on time and resources are allocated effectively.
• Establish and uphold consistent standards for design, architecture, and quality across all applications by developing clear procedures and guidelines
• Support and develop engineering talent, including mentoring developers and team leads, creating training plans and guiding their professional growth.
• Proactively identify and remove obstacles that impede team progress or project delivery.
• Break down complex projects into manageable tasks, estimate effort and timelines and validate team estimates to support both short and long-term planning.
• Work closely with product owners and stakeholders to ensure software initiatives are aligned with organizational priorities and goals.
• Build and sustain a resilient development team, including recruiting, hiring, and fostering a positive team culture.
• Manage project transitions and reprioritization, ensuring clear communication between team leads and stakeholders while keeping all efforts synchronized.
• Foster a positive, high-performing culture rooted in accountability, humility, continuous improvement and execution excellence.

• Proven success leading teams and individuals, with a focus on fostering professional growth and cultivating a positive, high-performance culture.
• At least 3 years of people management experience and 5 years working within software development teams.
• Strong, hands-on understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and the full spectrum of software engineering practices.
• Experience defining standards, implementing best practices and establishing processes that improve team efficiency and code quality.
• Solid knowledge of cloud-based architectures, with specific experience in the AWS ecosystem.
• Practical development experience in some or all core technologies:
  • PHP (Symfony)
  • JavaScript (Vue.js)
  • Java (SpringBoot)
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly coordinate between technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders serving as the central communication hub for projects.
• Highly collaborative mindset, with a strong appreciation for the partnership between engineering and product and a desire to deeply understand the business domain.
• A self-starter who takes initiative and drives results without needing close supervision.
• A strategic problem-solver able to break down complex challenges, evaluate tradeoffs and deliver actionable solutions with clarity.

• May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
• Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
