Position SummaryThis position is part-time and will be onsite in our offices in Puerto Rico. The individual will split their time between the two office locationsThe individual will be responsible for resolving employee relations concerns through both formal investigations and alternative dispute resolution methods.  This position is also responsible for carrying out a broad scope of responsibilities within Human Resources including but not limited to handling benefits inquiries, employment law compliance, payroll related questions, HR administrative support, interviewing, etc.

Responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in our offices in Puerto Rico.  The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.  The HRBP should maintain an effective level of business unit literacy.  This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues; conducts investigations as necessary and resolve other sensitive employee relations issues; documents findings and proposes solutions and/or recommendations to management team as necessary
  • Works closely with Resource Management Group to facilitate recruiting process and onboarding of new employees; may need to prepare offer letters and send out the necessary documentation to new hires as needed
  • Consults with onsite management and supervisors, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR department to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Ensures accurate records keeping and processes are followed for new hires, promotions, transfers, changes in job title, etc.
  • Provides guidance and input on team building, growth, employee relations matters, etc.
    • Responsible for ensuring all employees within the Business Unit are compliant with required compliance training upon hire and annually thereafter
    • Travel required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Complete all required compliance training on an annual basis

Required Education and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of all employment labor laws in Puerto Rico
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • 5 + years of experience in Human Resources with a strong focus on resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, performance management, and federal and state employment laws
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn HRIS or similar computer applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate
  • Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations
  • HR certification a plus
