Job Overview

The Commodity Manager will oversee the global strategic management of assigned commodities and products. This role entails leading cross-functional teams, managing supplier execution, and implementing strategies to optimize costs, enhance quality, and mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of suppliers and conduct quarterly performance reviews.
  • Negotiate Master Supply Agreements to maximize value and improve inventory efficiency.
  • Develop and communicate commodity strategies across the organization and with suppliers.
  • Monitor market trends and lifecycle roadmaps to align procurement strategies with industry transitions.
  • Implement risk mitigation plans related to engine supply processes.
  • Collaborate with teams to address quality, price, inventory, and material availability issues.
  • Oversee supplier audits to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Optimize the supply chain to reduce lead times and improve overall efficiency.
  • Track and report material price variations and provide updates to financial teams.
  • Manage and update supplier scorecards to reflect performance metrics.
  • Conduct comprehensive market and supplier analyses to identify opportunities for cost reductions and efficiency improvements.

Minimal Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR 8 years of equivalent experience in a comparable environment.
  • 5–7 years of experience in strategic sourcing, supplier quality management, or operations.
  • Proven ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface effectively at all organizational levels.
  • 2 yrs recent power generation products.
  • 2 yrs Engine Components

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of engine components and manufacturing processes, such as casting, forging, stamping, and machining.
  • Experience in commodity management, engineering, or strategic sourcing roles.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP.

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in cost reduction strategies and bidding techniques.
  • Strong negotiation expertise for supplier agreements.
  • Thorough understanding of strategic sourcing and supplier contract management.
  • Ability to assess critical market dynamics, including risk mitigation planning.
  • Skilled in tracking and reconciling price variations to align with financial objectives.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to handle fast-paced and dynamic environments effectively.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills using quality tools and methodologies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform regular computer-based tasks involving close vision and fine motor skills.
  • Periodic standing, walking, and occasional bending or reaching.
  • Capability to lift up to 25–50 pounds occasionally.
  • Travel may be required occasionally for this role.
