Our client is a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit nursing home located in Schenectady County, NY, and we are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing. The facility offers high-quality, compassionate care to its 250+ residents and is known for its commitment to excellence in long-term care.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Nursing plays a vital leadership role in the day-to-day operations of the nursing department and supports the Director of Nursing  in managing clinical services across the facility. This individual ensures regulatory compliance, promotes high standards of resident care, and helps oversee staffing, resource allocation, and quality assurance. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage services including nursing, laboratory, pharmacy, dental, podiatry, eye care, and community medical care.
  • Maintain and promote high standards of nursing practice in compliance with Federal and NY State regulations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures.
  • Support performance evaluations, recruitment, and retention of nursing staff.
  • Contribute to nursing budget planning and resource management.
  • Conduct audits and participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in system improvement projects, PIPs, wound rounds, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Serve on various facility committees and attend management team meetings.
  • Collaborate with social services on admissions, care levels, and resident/family concerns.
  • Monitor incident reports and ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation.
  • Oversees all nursing staff as well as administrative roles such as the nursing office secretary, ward clerks, driver, and health information coordinator.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of nursing leadership experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Working knowledge of nursing home regulations and quality assurance programs.
  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Requires mobility across the building, prolonged standing/sitting, and ability to handle clinical information and standard nursing equipment.
