We are seeking a dedicated professional to lead the accessioning department in a high-throughput diagnostic laboratory. The role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless intake and processing of patient specimens, maintaining accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. This full-time, on-site position is based in Edison.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and guide accessioning staff, including training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels for efficient specimen processing.
  • Develop, implement, and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee specimen intake, identifying and rectifying any labeling errors or documentation issues.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA.
  • Maintain quality control metrics and ensure accurate data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Collaborate with IT and laboratory teams to address and resolve any data or system issues.
  • Manage chain-of-custody and sample traceability from receipt to laboratory processing.
  • Act as a liaison between accessioning, client services, lab personnel, and logistics teams.
  • Assist in client onboarding by establishing intake protocols and documentation standards.
  • Manage inventory and coordinate with procurement to ensure availability of materials.
  • Develop and implement training programs for new and existing staff, ensuring adherence to current SOPs and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a life science, healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical or diagnostic laboratory setting.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience within a laboratory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of specimen handling and laboratory information systems (LIS/LIMS).
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry tools.
