As an FPI Inspector, you will perform Fluorescent Penetrant Inspections (FPI) on precision aerospace components to detect surface defects such as cracks, porosity, and laps. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that all parts meet stringent aerospace and customer standards while operating within NADCAP, AS9100, and other regulatory guidelines.
FPI Inspector Key Responsibilities:
Perform FPI processes according to ASTM E1417 and AMS 2644 standards
Prepare parts for inspection including cleaning, penetrant application, and developing
Interpret inspection results under UV light to evaluate surface discontinuities
Operate manual or automated FPI lines safely and efficiently
Maintain accurate inspection reports and compliance documentation
Identify and tag non-conforming parts, coordinating with Quality and Production teams
Support NADCAP audits and follow strict safety protocols and chemical handling procedures
FPI Inspector Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
ASNT SNT-TC-1A or NAS 410 Level II in FPI (Level I candidates may be considered)
2+ years of hands-on FPI experience, preferably in aerospace
Familiarity with NADCAP, AS9100, and customer-specific requirements
Strong visual acuity under UV light and excellent attention to detail
Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret inspection criteria
