Splunk Information Security Engineer

Company:  $50 billion Publicly Traded Company

Location:  Chicagoland area (works remote 4 days/week and onsite 1 day/week)

Job Overview

This role is for the primary engineer for the company's log management program. The job itself will involve working directly with Splunk “customers” within the organization to ensure data ingestion and further data ingestion verification in an on-going basis. This role will also involve maintaining any and all on-premise infrastructure related to Splunk including upgrades. The engineer will work closely with our Splunk architecture and data analysis teams, maintain Log Management documentation, and assist in maintain a vendor relationship.

 

This role provides the engineer hired to run something of their own. They would be given the opportunity to coordinate with multiple teams across the organization and build something meaningful, expand and mold the program from the ground up, and take the Log Management program in their own direction should they wish. Requirements

  • The ideal candidate background would include both back-end Splunk experience, specifically data ingestion and universal or heavy forwarder management, and OS administration experience especially on Linux.
  • While general Splunk knowledge is helpful, it is not required, and we believe the Splunk environment itself can be taught over time.
  • We are also looking for strong scripting skills especially in languages like bash (linux), regex, or python would be helpful.
  • BS or MS degree in Information Technology or a relevant experience.
