CooperDouglas is conducting a confidential executive search on behalf of a profitable, founder-led fintech platform backed by private equity. The company operates at the infrastructure layer of experience-based commerce, offering a unified solution across online booking, on-site point-of-sale, and embedded payment processing. The Vice President of Engineering to lead all aspects of technical direction, platform reliability, and engineering execution. This is a hands-on executive leadership role reporting directly to the CEO with a deep understanding of FinTech.

 

The VP of Engineering will serve as a key member of the executive team and will be responsible for:

  • Defining and driving the engineering roadmap, including platform consolidation, technical debt retirement, scalability planning, and uptime improvement
  • Architecting and overseeing a hybrid infrastructure across on-prem and AWS cloud deployments
  • Leading a hands-on engineering team responsible for transaction flow, booking systems, user experience, and internal platform operations
  • Scaling the internal team through hiring, coaching, and mentorship, with a focus on senior, product-oriented engineers
  • Collaborating closely with Product, Ops, and Finance to align tech execution with business objectives
  • Introducing best-in-class DevOps, CI/CD, code quality, and monitoring standards
  • Advising on post-acquisition technical integration strategies

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 5+ years at the Director or VP level in a B2B SaaS or fintech environment
  • Proven experience managing hybrid cloud/on-prem platforms with real transaction volume and strict uptime requirements
  • Strong architectural grounding in .NET, Laravel, SQL, Angular, and AWS
  • Background in payments, POS, or embedded finance infrastructure is required
  • Experience scaling and professionalizing engineering teams, implementing agile process, elevating engineering culture, and establishing delivery accountability
  • Comfort working closely with a founder/CEO and cross-functional leaders in a flat, fast-moving organization
  • Executive presence and communication skills to operate at board and investor level when needed

 

Location: Irvine, CA – HybridCompensation range $265,000 to $300,000
