CooperDouglas has partnered with a large residential real estate developer for an experienced Construction Accountant to support the financial management of their construction projects. This role involves comprehensive accounting responsibilities including job cost tracking, budget management, accounts payable and receivable, and overhead expense accounting. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, vendors, and clients to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and timely reporting

Responsibilities of the Construction Accountant include:

  • Manage financial reporting for construction projects, including job cost tracking and variance analysis
  • Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and investigate variances.
  • Assist with monthly WIP (Work in Progress) reporting and margin analysis.
  • Process and track monthly draw requests, coordinate with lenders, and manage supporting documentation for loan compliance
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing, revenue recognition, and cost allocations
  • Preparation of monthly project status reports for management team to complete estimated cost to complete reports
  • Handle general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure financial accuracy across departments
  • Support year-end audit activities and compliance requirements
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within accounting operations
  • Other accounting and finance responsibilities as needed

 

Qualifications for the Construction Accountant role:

  • BS in accounting or related field
  • 3+ years of experience within the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and project accounting
  • Proficiency in Yardi is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments

 

Location: Corona Hybrid

Compensation range $75,000- 85,000 + bonus
