CooperDouglas is partnering with a high-growth, publicly traded manufacturing brand to hire a strategic Director of Accounting to lead their core accounting operations. This newly created role sits at the center of the business, responsible for building scalable infrastructure, strengthening controls, and ensuring financial integrity across global operations. It's a high-impact opportunity for a hands-on leader to help shape the future of finance at a company redefining its category.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage annual financial audits, working closely with internal and external auditors and ensuring audit readiness throughout the year.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures to support scalability and risk mitigation.
  • Provide guidance on revenue recognition for domestic contracts, including ASC 606 disclosures for quarterly SEC filings.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing corporate accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Support cross-functional projects involving inventory, cost accounting, commission payouts, and international entity reporting.
  • Drive accounting system improvements and automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Streamline and optimize financial processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements and lead implementation efforts to ensure the scalability of financial operations.

 

You’re probably a match if you have

  • Demonstrated success in leading a Corporate Accounting function through rapid growth in a scaled public company environment, with a proven ability to develop and execute effective strategies.
  • Minimum 8 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in Big 4 public accounting
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a CPA is required.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a proven track record of building high-performing teams and continuously supporting their growth and development.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business process transformation and change management.
  • Extensive experience in establishing and standardizing policies, processes, procedures, and controls that are SOX-compliant.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
  • Experience in consumer goods or direct e-commerce industries is preferred.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present financial data to non-finance stakeholders.

 

Compensation based on location and experience $150,000-$200,000 + bonus + more!

This is a remote role, candidates must live in the United States.
