The Forestry Sales Manager is responsible for responding to incoming leads, build strong relationships with potential and existing clients, prepare detailed bids, and successfully secure forestry projects. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where follow-through and relationship-building are key to success.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Lead Management & Response:

·        Promptly respond to all incoming forestry sales leads via phone, email, and online inquiries.

·        Qualify leads to determine project scope, timeline, and client needs.

·        Maintain accurate records of all lead activity and follow-ups in the CRM system.

 

Relationship Development:

·        Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, property owners, land managers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.

·        Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the sales process, ensuring clients feel supported and informed.

·        Conduct site visits to assess project needs and represent the company professionally.

 

Bidding & Estimating:

·        Prepare clear, accurate, and competitive bids tailored to each project’s unique requirements.

·        Collaborate with the operations team to ensure bids reflect realistic scopes, timelines, and costs.

·        Follow up on all outstanding bids to answer questions, adjust proposals, and close deals.

 

Winning Work:

·        Strategically negotiate contracts to maximize project success and profitability.

·        Track bid performance and continuously refine strategies to increase win rates.

·        Develop a deep understanding of our services to effectively present solutions that meet client goals.

 

General Responsibilities:

·        Maintain a strong working knowledge of forestry services such as fuel reduction, thinning, mastication, and land management.

·        Attend industry events to build relationships and identify new business opportunities.

·        Provide regular updates to management on lead activity, bid status, and sales performance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

·        Proven experience in sales, account management, or business development—forestry or construction industry preferred.

·        Strong understanding of forestry practices and land management services is a plus.

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a client-first mindset.

·        Ability to read, understand, and create bid documents with accuracy and attention to detail.

·        Highly organized and able to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines.

·        Proficient in CRM tools, Microsoft Office, and other business software.

·        Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for site visits as needed

 

DESIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

·        Minimum of three years of experience in sales or related industry.

 

JOB TYPE: Full-time, Salaried plus commission

 

LOCATION: Main office location in Big Sky, MT.  Will require at least 1 day a week in office.  Remaining time remote or traveling to look at potential projects.
