Job Title: Senior AccountantReports To: Finance DirectorLocation: Owosso, MI

Job Summary:Perform accounting functions, including account analysis, journal entries, financial reporting, and budgeting. Act as a financial consultant for leadership, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements and analysis. Support the organization’s mission and values while contributing to an exceptional patient and family experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly/yearly financial statements and reports for leadership and board presentations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, researching and resolving accounting issues.
  • Analyze variances between actual results and budgets/forecasts.
  • Assist in strategic planning and development of long-term financial tools.
  • Prepare materials for annual tax returns and external audits.
  • Recommend process improvements for departmental efficiency.
  • Collaborate with various departments on accounting matters.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members as needed.
  • Handle special projects and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • CPA highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience (healthcare setting preferred).
  • Understanding of accounting standards ASC 606 and ASC 842.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, general ledger systems, and accounting software (QuickBooks a plus).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.

  • Ability to use office equipment, access digital systems, and sit for extended periods.
  • Adaptability to fast-paced or stressful situations.

  • Ability to maintain composure and foster a collaborative environment.

Other:

  • Flexibility to meet deadlines and handle various tasks as assigned.
  • Able to travel to nearby facilities.
