Ascension Search Partners has been engaged to hire a Controller to start up a family office. This fully remote role is an exciting opportunity to build out the infrastructure of a family office from the ground up. This hire will be made with the intent of this person functioning in an individual contributor capacity in the short term and growing into the Chief Financial Officer overseeing a small team in the mid to longer term.
The Controller will be expected to assist in the set up and build out of the family office. This includes but is not limited to the handling of all aspects of accounting, consolidating, and reporting for the personal family matters. In addition, this person will work with banks, partners, and operations on banking / treasury matters and tax preparation, collect, organize, and manage tax, insurance, and legal providers, oversee Bill Pay, check writing, and wire Transfers, bank reconciliations, financial statements, etc., develop analysis, spreadsheets, and reports in excel and in other formats to support strategic decision making, cost allocations and billings. At times, there may be a need for completion of special projects as requested.
The ideal candidate have experience a foundation in public accounting within the tax or audit function and either family office or private equity fund management company experience. A CPA license, while not required, is a nice to have. A self starter mentality and focus on excellence and attention to detail is required for the person in this role.
