Ascension Search Partners has been engaged by a privately held, growth-oriented real estate development firm to identify a Vice President Controller. This is a newly created role that will oversee core accounting functions across a dynamic, multi-entity portfolio of real estate assets and operating businesses. Reporting directly to the President, this individual will lead the day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the integrity of financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance processes. The role offers the opportunity to partner closely with leadership while managing a diverse team across several functional areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger management, month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance activities
• Ensure efficiency in partnership reporting and optimize processes for timely financial reporting 
• Manage shared services, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and procurement
• Ensure timely, accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain internal controls and support audit, tax, and regulatory filings
• Partner with operations and leadership to support cash management and budgeting
• Supervise a multi-entity accounting structure and coordinate with external advisors

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; prior leadership in multi-entity environments preferred
• CPA strongly preferred; public accounting background a plus
• Real estate, development, or hospitality industry experience highly desirable
• Proven ability to lead teams and implement process improvements
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, and collaborative
