The Bioinformatics Software Engineer role offers the opportunity to design and deploy software infrastructure to support molecular diagnostics and bioinformatics workflows. A successful applicant will contribute to automation initiatives, implement and maintain a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and ensure integration with other laboratory information systems.
BS or MS in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline
3+ years of experience in software design and engineering
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting and work independently on problem solving
Familiarity with human genetics data, including NGS DNAseq and RNAseq
Proficiency in Python (JavaScript experience is a plus), with strong coding practices and documentation skills
Experience with version control (e.g., GitHub) and writing unit tests
Emphasis on code reusability and reproducibility in scientific or technical work
Proficiency with Linux environments, command-line tools, and scripting (Bash/Unix)
Ability to read and write SQL; familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
Experience with workflow languages (e.g., Nextflow, WDL)
Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and scientific audiences
Preferred: experience with high-performance computing, job schedulers (e.g., Slurm), cloud storage platforms, and CI/CD tools
Preferred: knowledge of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7) and interoperability frameworks
