The Bioinformatics Software Engineer role offers the opportunity to design and deploy software infrastructure to support molecular diagnostics and bioinformatics workflows. A successful applicant will contribute to automation initiatives, implement and maintain a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and ensure integration with other laboratory information systems.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline

  • 3+ years of experience in software design and engineering

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting and work independently on problem solving

  • Familiarity with human genetics data, including NGS DNAseq and RNAseq

  • Proficiency in Python (JavaScript experience is a plus), with strong coding practices and documentation skills

  • Experience with version control (e.g., GitHub) and writing unit tests

  • Emphasis on code reusability and reproducibility in scientific or technical work

  • Proficiency with Linux environments, command-line tools, and scripting (Bash/Unix)

  • Ability to read and write SQL; familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL

  • Experience with workflow languages (e.g., Nextflow, WDL)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and scientific audiences

  • Preferred: experience with high-performance computing, job schedulers (e.g., Slurm), cloud storage platforms, and CI/CD tools

  • Preferred: knowledge of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7) and interoperability frameworks
