Our client is a Tier 1 Automotive supplier specializing in the production of injection-molded components used in various vehicle systems, including interiors and exteriors.
Summary
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a business unit, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, cash management, and developing and implementing policies. Additionally, the position supports other operational areas such as Human Resources, IT, Facility Management, and Purchasing.
The Controller will report directly to senior leadership in Operations and Finance.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled financial leader with experience in manufacturing or automotive industries and excel in cost accounting, process improvements, and compliance.
Responsibilities
Manage and oversee general and property accounting, payroll and benefits accounts, tax accounting, accounts receivable/payable, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls.
Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to forecast outcomes and identify potential issues.
Lead the coordination and preparation of budgets, financial statements, and related activities.
Interpret operational results to assess financial impacts on the business unit.
Organize monthly meetings with key managers and leadership.
Drive cost reduction and profit improvement initiatives across operational areas.
Conduct unit cost analysis, establish standard costing methods, and support related activities.
Serve as a central hub for financial information within the organization and with external partners.
Oversee the selection and implementation of a new ERP system.
Coordinate and supervise compliance with government reporting requirements and liaise with officials on financial matters.
Develop and implement finance-related methods, procedures, and internal controls.
Train, supervise, and evaluate accounting staff and functions.
Lead efforts to detect and control fraud.
Manage additional operational areas as assigned.
Oversee the annual audit process and maintain banking relationships.
Handle forecasting and cash flow management.
Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, both domestically and internationally.
Maintain effective communication with other locations within the organization.
Promote a positive, solutions-oriented approach to achieving team success.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
Leadership experience in accounting or finance, such as a Controller or Accounting Manager, particularly in an automotive or manufacturing setting.
Familiarity with global enterprises and their financial operations.
Expertise in accounting software with a focus on financial, costing, and manufacturing modules.
Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Thorough understanding of accounting and tax regulations as well as manufacturing and inventory control processes.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Occasional domestic and international travel.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment, with extended periods of sitting or walking as needed.
