Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Contract

Qualifications (Required)

Experience:

• 1+ years of experience in ANY of the following:
  • Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg)
  • Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC)
  • Geriatric/LTC
  • Long Term Acute Care (LTAC/LTACH)

Licenses/Certifications:

• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)

Additional Requirements:

• Do you have a Covid-19 Vaccine, Varicella, MMR, T-Dap, TB, HepB, Current Physical, Flu?
• Are you IV Therapy Certified?

Overview

Required Skills and Experience:

• Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas
• 1+ year of Med/Surg or LTAC experience
• Current AHA BLS
• LVNs must be IV Therapy Certified

What You Need to Know:

• Full-time 2 Night LVN positions
• Clearance documents will be sent to candidates during the review stage
• 4:3 rotating schedule

Additional Job Details:

• Provides nursing services, treatments, and diagnostic/preventive procedures appropriate for inmate care and safety
• Interprets physicians’ orders
• Administers prescribed medication
• Assists physicians during sick call
• Applies surgical dressings and bandages
• Provides emergency first aid care
• Checks and records vital signs
• Instructs inmates on discharge planning
• Observes signs and symptoms during sick call when the physician is not present
• Reports reactions to treatments and medications, as well as changes in inmates’ emotional or physical conditions
• May instruct and supervise correctional staff regarding inmate healthcare needs
• Consults with supervisors on problem cases
• Checks and orders supplies
• Maintains accurate medical records
• Provides health care education to inmates
