Systems: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or equivalent)

Position Overview

A results-oriented, hands-on Controller is needed to lead all accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. The ideal candidate has 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including a strong background leading accounting system implementations or conversions, ideally with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC). This role calls for a strategic thinker who can deliver meaningful financial insights while maintaining strong internal controls and efficient, compliant processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Management and Reporting

  • Oversee all accounting and treasury functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, vendor payments, and bank reconciliations.

  • Coordinate and prepare accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

• System Implementation and Optimization

  • Lead or play a pivotal role in the implementation, configuration, and optimization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with integration into a banking treasury platform.

  • Manage data migration from legacy systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the system aligns with organizational workflows and supports core business functions.

• Process Improvement and Internal Controls

  • Evaluate current accounting operations and recommend improvements to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls that mitigate financial risk and ensure data integrity.

• Audit and Compliance

  • Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and tax advisors.

  • Coordinate audit requests and ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory and legal requirements.

• Leadership and Team Development

  • Supervise and mentor members of the accounting team.

  • Foster a collaborative environment that supports professional growth and high performance.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in accounting with clear progression into a controller or similar senior-level role.

• Systems Expertise

  • Hands-on, in-depth experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (functional and/or technical) or a similar mid-market ERP/accounting platform.

  • Experience with data migration, system configuration, and end-user training.

  • Strong understanding of banking processes and treasury controls.

• Technical Accounting Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Education and Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  • CPA and/or a Master’s degree is highly preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with senior leadership.
