Position Overview

A reputable healthcare facility in West Virginia is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Quality and Risk to oversee performance improvement, risk management, regulatory compliance, and patient safety initiatives across the organization. This senior leader will serve as the Patient Safety Officer and Ethics & Compliance Officer, playing a critical role in ensuring clinical excellence, operational effectiveness, and regulatory readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Performance Improvement

  • Lead hospital-wide quality and patient safety programs

  • Direct performance improvement initiatives, Six Sigma teams, and accreditation readiness

  • Oversee CMS/TJC Core Measures and regulatory compliance activities

  • Develop and manage physician quality dashboards and performance metrics

Risk Management

  • Conduct clinical risk assessments and manage investigations related to potential liability

  • Develop and implement risk-related policies, staff education, and incident response protocols

  • Liaise with legal and professional liability teams as needed

Ethics & Compliance

  • Chair the facility’s Ethics & Compliance Committee

  • Promote ethical reporting and serve as point of contact for compliance issues

  • Coordinate audits, ensure policy communication, and track trends in ethical conduct

Leadership & Administration

  • Supervise Quality, Risk, and Medical Staff Office departments

  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical managers, and senior leadership on strategic goals

  • Manage departmental budgets and ensure alignment with fiscal and clinical priorities

  • Represent the facility during accreditation and regulatory surveys

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated Salary Range: $111,000 – $150,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)Signing Bonus: NegotiableRelocation Assistance: Partial package available

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required)

  • Master’s Degree (preferred)

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • CPHRM and CPPS required or to be obtained within two years of hire

  • Must maintain current professional licensure

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare experience (clinical background preferred)

  • At least 2 years in clinical risk management

  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and critical thinking abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards

  • Ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills

Work Location

  • This is a full-time, in-person position based in Beckley, West Virginia. Remote or hybrid options are not available.
