We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Plant HR Manager to join our team in Kitchener. This role is essential in driving the human resources function at the site level, ensuring alignment with corporate standards while tailoring programs to meet local needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a productive and engaging work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide strategic HR leadership and contribute to the plant management team. Support business objectives by implementing comprehensive HR solutions and initiatives that enhance teammate engagement and performance.
  • Labour Management & Employee Relations: Develop and maintain effective labour/management relations. Represent management in employee relations and ensure consistent application of labour practices.
  • Health, Safety & Environment: Ensure compliance with HS&E standards and promote a safe working environment. Manage injury claims and maintain accurate records.
  • Training & Development: Design and implement training programs to meet ISO 9001 requirements and support employee development. Deliver in-house training and collaborate with corporate development teams.
  • Recruitment & Selection: Lead the recruitment process, including screening, interviewing, and onboarding of new employees. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Performance and Talent Management: Guide management in promoting plant effectiveness through performance management. Implement talent management strategies to identify and develop high potential employees.
  • Total Rewards: Monitor and ensure competitive compensation and benefits. Align local practices with corporate total rewards programs and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Engagement & Communication: Foster effective communication within the plant and develop action plans to enhance employee engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for candidates holding a Professional Human Resources Designation.
  • At least five years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing sector, ideally within the automotive industry.
  • Experience in a unionized environment, including contract administration and negotiation.
  • Strong understanding of HR management principles and the ability to influence decision-makers.
  • Experience in a matrix global organization with solid business acumen.
  • Familiarity with payroll and HRIS systems is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
