The Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Engineer will provide technical support and be responsible for improving general knowledge on-site regarding electrical equipment efficiency and chemical plants electrical safety by improving project and maintenance electrical designs. The I&E Engineer will need to be able to create I/O lists, size wire, and conduit of a P&ID. The candidate will need to apply his/her knowledge of industrial electrical equipment, design, codes, and industry standards to create and improve the electrical specification and electrical standards for the plant location and the Remote sites. This position reports to the I&E Supervisor.
• Provide electrical engineering support in supervising execution, planning, and cost estimation for electrical aspects of major Capex projects.• Provide technical support in the different electrical project phases and operational troubleshooting from the production areas.• Troubleshoot DCS and PLC issues and create a control narrative for process changes.• Develop electrical specifications and become knowledgeable on the equipment necessary for each project.• Development of loop sheets, cable schedules, and other electrical documents necessary for bidding.• Participate in PHA/HAZOP and other regulatory activities.• Participate in project commissioning activities and provide technical support to ensure project goals are met.• Maintain and update company and the Remote’s Sites Electrical One-Line Diagrams and ARC-Flash documentation.• Assist in maintaining and improving the plant’s process systems including programmable logic controllers, process communications networks, and human-machine interface equipment.• Assist in troubleshooting control panels in existing power systems and auditing projects to ensure construction complies with current electrical codes and specifications.• Other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.• 5 -8 years of related experience in industrial electrical design is required. Preferably in a chemical plant or other manufacturing environments.• 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.• Minimum 3 years of work experience in the chemical or petrochemical industry.• Ability to understand P&IDs.• Familiar with NEC codes and IEC standards.• Familiar with designing 24V – 480V electrical distribution systems.• Familiar with DCS automation and process control systems. Yokogawa experience preferred.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Strong computer skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office and database management.• Able to travel up to 20% is required.
