Service Technician - Industrial Boilers and Furnaces

Job Overview: As a Service Technician specializing in industrial boilers and furnaces, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various industrial heating systems. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of these systems, which are essential for the functioning of industrial facilities such as manufacturing plants, power plants, refineries, and other large-scale operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation and Commissioning:

    • Install new industrial boilers and furnaces according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
    • Perform system checks and tests to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
    • Commission newly installed systems, ensuring they meet performance criteria and client requirements.
  2. Routine Maintenance:

    • Conduct regular maintenance tasks on industrial boilers and furnaces to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
    • Replace worn or malfunctioning parts such as burners, heat exchangers, valves, and controls.
    • Clean and inspect equipment components to remove debris and ensure efficient operation.
  3. Diagnostic and Repair:

    • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and diagnose issues using technical knowledge and diagnostic tools.
    • Repair or replace faulty components to restore functionality.
    • Conduct tests after repairs to verify proper operation and safety compliance.
  4. Emergency Response:

    • Respond promptly to emergency service calls to address critical issues with industrial heating systems.
    • Take necessary actions to mitigate risks and minimize downtime.
    • Communicate effectively with clients and supervisors during emergency situations.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of service activities, including work performed, parts used, and time spent.
    • Prepare detailed service reports and documentation for clients and internal records.
    • Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements based on assessment findings.
  6. Customer Service:

    • Interact professionally with clients to address their concerns, answer questions, and provide technical advice.
    • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through timely and effective service delivery.
    • Collaborate with other team members and departments to meet client needs and exceed expectations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in HVAC, mechanical engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a service technician working with industrial boilers and furnaces, with a strong understanding of combustion principles, heat transfer, and control systems.
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols related to industrial heating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform tasks in confined spaces.
  • Comfort working at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment.
  • Stamina to withstand long hours of standing, bending, and kneeling during service activities.
