The Opportunity

We are seeking a strategic and experienced financial leader to join our client's team as their Controller or potentially Chief Financial Officer. This pivotal role offers the chance to make a significant impact on the financial health and long-term sustainability of an organization with a strong community presence. You will be instrumental in guiding their financial strategy and ensuring resources are effectively managed to support their mission.

 

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic oversight and direction for all fiscal affairs of the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  • Oversee relationships with funding agencies and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
  • Manage key financial functions, including tax filings, payroll, and the generation of comprehensive financial reports.
  • Supervise and mentor the finance team.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership and the board.
  • Present clear and insightful financial information to the Board of Directors.

 

What You Bring

  • 5+ years extensive accounting and financial management expertise with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field (CPA a plus).
  • Prior Medicaid knowledge preferred.
  • A proven track record of preparing complex financial statements and implementing strong accounting controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software and financial management systems.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to understand the broader organizational context and contribute to overall strategy.
  • Experience working with publicly funded organizations and navigating relevant regulations is highly valued.
  • Prior experience in a non-profit environment is a plus.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate financial information to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience managing a finance team.
