  • Research, interpret, and apply regulatory and industry compliance standards and codes, including UL, NEC, NFPA, FCC, and CSA.
  • Act as the technical lead on lab compliance for product certifications, particularly for UL and CSA standards.
  • Support new product platforms and launches by preparing and submitting regulatory documentation and certification paperwork.
  • Maintain product safety listings and relationships with Nationally Recognized Test Labs (NRTLs).
  • Confirm compliance with environmental directives, including REACH and RoHS.
  • Review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for alignment with product compliance files.
  • Develop compliance plans by analyzing applicable product safety standards and evaluating new compliance methodologies, vendors, and components.
  • Coordinate test schedules, laboratory resources, and required test equipment.
  • Analyze test results, conduct forensic failure analysis, and troubleshoot issues during product testing.
  • Drive resolution of non-compliance issues by recommending product/process improvements and supporting engineering change orders.
  • Document compliance processes by preparing investigative reports, filing Declarations of Conformity, and maintaining certification databases.
  • Ensure certification markings and marketing materials reflect accurate compliance ratings.
  • Stay current with evolving compliance engineering practices and standards; participate in training and industry events.
  • Serve as administrative gatekeeper for regulatory compliance partners, including UL and other certifying bodies.
  • Some travel may be required for on-site field evaluations.
  • Support and uphold organizational Quality and EHS policies and Core Values.

Supervisor Responsibilities:
  • No direct supervisory responsibilities; however, this role will provide technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders on compliance-related matters, particularly related to UL and CSA certifications.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have UL or electrical code testing experience with an emphasis on mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience with lab compliance and certifications (e.g., UL, CSA) is required.
  • 2–5 years of related experience in mechanical/electrical system design and product compliance.
  • Familiarity with environmental directives such as REACH and RoHS.
  • Proficient in 3D modeling software.
  • Skilled in interpreting test requirements, schematics, and mechanical/electrical drawings.
  • Experience writing standard test procedures and generating technical reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly to varied audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
