The Experiment Specialist supports innovation initiatives and the development of new products, processes, and product enhancements. Working under general guidance, this role is responsible for tasks related to fabrication, experimentation, computational analysis, research, design, and testing.
Duties: Including but not limited to:
• Support the development of new products and processes through research, design, prototyping, testing, and evaluation.• Collaborate with engineers to define experiment parameters and methods; organize model setup, identify required data collection, execute numerical simulations, and review results.• Assist designers and engineers in creating prototypes for testing, analysis, and fabrication; review 3D models, drawings, and fabricated components.• Test and evaluate prototypes and new processes in alignment with innovation goals and performance criteria.• Fabricate experimental apparatus and test setups; utilize 3D printing and other methods to accelerate design iteration and prototype development.• Compile, document, and analyze test data; assess performance, communicate results with the team, and support iterative improvements to products and processes.• Prepare summary reports and data visualizations to communicate progress and findings.• Assist in monitoring and evaluating new technology performance during pilot and plant trials.• Knowledge of Crown’s products and processes—particularly in Preparation, Extraction, and Liquids—is advantageous but not required.• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school required.• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.• Self-motivated with strong initiative.• Strong verbal and written communication skills.• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, and vendors.• Proficient in applying logical and scientific thinking to support innovation and development initiatives.• Ability to communicate design and prototype concepts using sketches and CAD tools.• Proficient in reviewing 3D models and fabrication drawings.• Skilled in interpreting complex documents, calculations, and test data.• Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
Technical Knowledge:
• General and working knowledge of process modeling software such as ChemCAD or Aspen.• Familiarity with data acquisition methods, analysis tools, and programming (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB).• Experience with CFD and FEA tools; able to define and interpret numerical models using software such as ANSYS, CFX, and Fluent.• Proficiency in 3D design software and related tools, including Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault.• Knowledge and understanding of principles in heat transfer, fluid flow, structural mechanics, dynamics, systems and controls, tribology, chemistry, and physics.
Additional Requirements:
• Fluent in English (written and verbal); proficiency in a second language—European or Asian languages preferred but not required.• Willingness to travel domestically or internationally, up to 10% as needed.
