Ascension Search Partners has been engaged by a dynamic and rapidly expanding company backed by private equity, in search of a talented Assistant Controller to join their high-performing finance team. As Assistant Controller, you will report directly to the Controller and play a key role in overseeing financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and team leadership. This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional with expertise in audit/public accounting and a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements (quarterly and annual), including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Audit and Compliance:

• Support annual audits, serving as a liaison with external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Assist in preparing regulatory filings, including quarterly bank reporting.

Financial Analysis:

• Conduct financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and management discussion and analysis (MD&A) to support strategic decision-making.
• Analyze variances and provide actionable insights to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Team Leadership:

• Manage and mentor staff accountants, ensuring smooth operations of AP/AR functions.
• Foster collaboration across departments to maintain accurate and timely financial reporting.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation required.
• Proven experience in audit/public accounting.
• Strong expertise in financial concepts, including percentage-of-completion and accrual accounting.
