This role requires candidates who are currently authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, and C2C arrangements are not accepted. This role is fully remote. You must have at at least 1-3 years experience with Microsoft Purview. 

 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Classification Engineer to oversee the day-to-day administration of enterprise data classification and protection systems. This individual will collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to identify, classify, and label sensitive data across the organization. The role requires technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and a commitment to accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain the Veritas Data Insight platform:

    • Create and manage data usage reports

    • Integrate new data sources

    • Develop and deploy policies and sensitive information tags

    • Produce usage metrics and executive reports

  • Support the configuration and management of Microsoft Purview and Entra ID security controls:

    • Manage Conditional Access policies, Sensitivity Labels, and data classification settings

    • Assist in building CoPilot dashboards and metrics

    • Create training materials to promote user adoption of classification tools in Microsoft 365

  • Learn and assist with the deployment of SailPoint Data Access Security or similar platforms:

    • Discover and classify sensitive data

    • Generate usage and ownership reports for data stakeholders

  • Follow change management protocols to ensure proper tracking and documentation

  • Participate in additional data governance and protection tasks as assigned

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Veritas Data Insight experience is the top priority: Must have 3–5 years of hands-on experience, particularly with policy/report creation and DQL

  • Microsoft Purview experience is essential: Must have at least 1–3 years of hands-on experience working with Purview features such as Sensitivity Labels, data classification, and security configurations

  • Proven ability to develop and apply data classification policies in enterprise environments

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver results

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • 3–5 years of experience in an IT or security-focused organization

  • Desire to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies

  • Prior experience supporting Microsoft CoPilot for data discovery is a plus

  • Familiarity with SailPoint or other data access governance tools is a plus

  • Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, life sciences, financial services) is preferred
