POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director, Commercial Insurance will be responsible for working alongside and reporting to the Vice President, Commercial Insurance to deliver the strategic vision of the brokerage. This individual will be a positive, dynamic, and strong people leader who desires the challenge of leading, growing, and mentoring frontline brokerage teams in a hybrid and flexible work environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading, driving and supporting a frontline broker team through the implementation of brokerage's overall strategy, operating plan, administrative budgets and processes
  • Supporting the brokerage in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with carriers
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing Commercial Insurance team members to achieve desired personal and organizational objectives
  • Leading, managing, and establishing performance expectations for multiple high performing teams
  • Strategizing with high performing teams and leadership members on key accounts
  • Developing and establishing operating policies consistent with their strategic vision and objectives and ensuring their adequate execution
  • Collaborating with the VP, Commercial Insurance on financial measurements and analysis to evaluate and establish  business operations and to determine/forecast hiring decisions
  • Collaborating with the VP, Commercial Insurance on the Commercial Insurance budget, goal setting, and annual compensation increases
  • Maintaining company’s best practices while ensuring legal compliancy and establishing new ones to stay competitive in the insurance marketplace
  • Exhibiting leadership style that fosters a culture of innovation, creativity, accountability and collaboration
  • Participating in the development and preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based upon broad organization goals and objectives

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 7 years commercial experience preferably in an insurance brokerage/company
  • Positive experience leading a team is an asset, but the desire to lead is more important
  • CAIB, CRM CIP or FCIP designation an asset
  • Experience working with EPIC & CSR 24 and asset
  • Experience in Office 365
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance brokerage business practices and processes
  • Understand how products and services impact client needs and develop processes to improve quality
  • A team player who is friendly, and collaborative
  • Strong initiative, leadership and strategic thinking
  • Ability to work independently and with all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills required to affect change and to build
