Our client in Mississauga is a fast-growing full-service insurance brokerage looking to hire a Commercial Lines Manager.
The successful candidate is a self-starter who will work in collaboration with the Production team to strategize, develop and market new and renewal business for clients. He/she should have a good understanding of the insurance marketplace and be able to build and maintain good working relationships with insurance carriers. Strong negotiating and technical skills are required to analyze information and prepare effective proposals and reports. The ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast paced environment is necessary. Some client interaction may be required from time to time.
Responsibilities
Coach and mentor producers to increase sales in Commercial property and IRCA business
Negotiate terms for new business, renewals and mid-term changes with insurance carriers
Gather and organize information provided by Producers to facilitate renewal and new business submissions
Review the expiry lists in advance and determine the following:
Which accounts should be sent to market
Which markets should be approached
What information is required by insurers for renewals and new business
Track and maintain a log of Insurer submission responses
Prepare insurance summaries, underwriting proposals and cover notes for the production team
Analyze and review policy wordings to ensure the proper coverages are in place
Ongoing monitoring of the insurance marketplace and maintain a current database of changing company "appetites"
Daily review of activities and follow ups with Insurers on outstanding items
Timely review of certificate requests to ensure adequate coverage and negotiate additional requirements with underwriters as needed
Review and compare quotations received to ensure accuracy and outline any coverage restrictions
Provide alternate carrier options as needed
Ensure there are no gaps in coverage for clients
Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by management
Binding of coverage, prepare documentation, certificates of insurance, mid-term changes, etc. in a timely fashion
Coordinate with producers to participate events to generate new business leads
Timely reporting to management
Other duties & responsibilities as required
Qualifications
Strong technical knowledge and experience working with and interpreting insurance policies
Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience with a focus on commercial property
CIP designation preferred, or working towards CIP
Detail oriented - high level of accuracy
Good verbal and written communication skills
Powerbroker and Policy Works experience an asset
Ability to work in a team based environment
Be able to prioritize and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities

Salary range is $70,000 to $100,000 based on experience
