Director, Plant Operations

Our Award-Winning Client, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare services, is seeking a Director of Plant Operations to oversee all maintenance and facilities management for their Mayfield, KY location. Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management

  • Supervise and manage the maintenance team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance policies, procedures, and schedules.
  • Coordinate with hospital departments to ensure smooth facility operations with minimal disruptions.

Facilities Maintenance

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Manage building systems such as elevators, fire safety equipment, and emergency generators.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and longevity.
  • Ensure the upkeep of hospital grounds, parking areas, and building aesthetics.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, Joint Commission, and NFPA standards.
  • Prepare for and participate in facility inspections and audits.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, safety inspections, and regulatory documentation.

Budgeting and Planning

  • Develop and manage the department’s budget, including cost forecasting for labor, materials, and capital projects.
  • Collaborate with leadership on long-term facility planning and major renovations.
  • Evaluate vendor contracts and oversee outsourced maintenance services.

Crisis Management

  • Respond to facility emergencies, including equipment failures, power outages, and natural disasters.
  • Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans for plant operations.

Qualifications

Must-Haves:

  1. Associate's degree in a related field or 5 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  2. Familiarity with healthcare-specific regulations and codes.
  3. Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Nice-to-Haves:

  1. Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and patient care-related systems.
  2. Experience leading facilities or maintenance teams.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of building systems, construction, and maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
