Director, Laboratory

Our Award-Winning Client, a nationally recognized organization known for its excellence in healthcare services, is seeking an experienced Director of Laboratory to lead their laboratory department in Mayfield, KY. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards in alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee daily departmental operations, including patient care delivery, service levels, information technology integration, and complaint resolution.
  • Monitor staffing activities such as hiring, orientation, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and continuous education efforts.
  • Manage departmental budgets, ensuring compliance with allocated funding while optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Direct internal and external audit processes and ensure successful accreditation outcomes.
  • Foster a professional growth-oriented environment and encourage team development.
  • Ensure the department integrates evidence-based practices into laboratory operations and protocols.
  • Provide leadership in maintaining the laboratory's critical role in the continuum of care.

Qualifications

Must-Haves:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  2. Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP or equivalent).

Nice-to-Haves:

  1. Proven leadership experience in laboratory operations within an acute care setting.
  2. Experience managing department-level operations and driving results.

Required Skills

  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure environments.
  • Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Familiarity with laboratory best practices and commitment to quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills.
