An established ammunition manufacturer in Florida is seeking a highly skilled Explosive Chemical Engineer or Chemist to lead the synthesis of explosive primer compounds for small arms ammunition. This role is pivotal in advancing our production capabilities and supporting the demand for component primers in reloading operations.

We welcome candidates from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, and offer relocation assistance.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary range: $125,000 - $200,000
  • Potential for a 10% annual bonus
  • Relocation expenses covered

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the synthesis and production processes of energetic materials and percussion primers, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement quality control measures for raw materials, products, and processes, including new product designs and testing methodologies.
  • Collaborate with company leadership and department heads to align product designs and processes with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the development and scaling of energetics processes, working closely with external contractors and internal teams.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to technicians and quality assurance teams.
  • Ensure safe and efficient manufacturing operations within the primer facility, including the creation of operational procedures for explosives handling and waste management.
  • Engage with local and federal agencies to maintain compliance with environmental, storage, and shipping standards.
  • Manage the Explosive Safety Program and ensure timely documentation and recordkeeping.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in ammunition or related fields.
  • Proficiency in handling explosive reactions and primer detonators, including materials such as Lead Styphnate and Tetrazene.
  • Experience with research, testing, and development of energetic materials for small arms platforms.

Location:

Indiantown, Florida - a vibrant community located 2 hours south of Orlando and 45 minutes north of Palm Beach. The facility supports a nearby ammunition plant and supplies primers to global markets.
