As our practice expands, we are seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Tax Preparer who specializes in fiduciary taxation, including the preparation of Form 1041 and related trust and estate compliance work.

Summary of Responsibilities

The Trusts & Estates Tax Preparer will prepare and review fiduciary income tax returns (Forms 1041), trust accountings, and related filings. This individual will work closely with firm leadership, attorneys, and clients to ensure accurate compliance and effective tax planning for trusts, estates, and high-net-worth families.

How You Will Contribute

• Prepare fiduciary income tax returns (1041s), gift tax returns (709s), and related schedules
• Review trust documents, wills, K-1s, and financial statements to ensure proper tax treatment
• Assist with estate and trust accountings, distributions, basis tracking, and year-end summaries
• Communicate with attorneys, trustees, executors, and beneficiaries to gather required information
• Provide guidance on trust structures, distribution planning, and fiduciary requirements
• Research trust-related tax issues and stay current with changes in fiduciary tax law
• Maintain detailed workpapers and ensure compliance with IRS and state filing requirements
• Assist with extension filings, e-file management, and deadline monitoring
• Support the tax department during peak season with related compliance needs
• Contribute to internal best practices and process improvements
• Help identify opportunities to enhance client service and expand trust-related engagements

What We Need From You

3–5 years of experience preparing fiduciary income tax returns (1041s)
• Experience reviewing or interpreting trust documents, wills, and estate plans
• Strong understanding of fiduciary accounting, distributable net income (DNI), and K-1 allocations
• Experience working with attorneys, trustees, or trust officers strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• CPA or EA is a plus but not required
• Ability to manage multiple trust engagements simultaneously
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
• Familiarity with CCH Axcess, ProSystem, or similar tax software is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• A team-oriented mindset and a high level of professionalism
