Grain Buyer – Role Details:

·         Competitive base salary: $80,000–$90,000* (based on experience)

Grain Buyer – Responsibilities:

·         Build and grow strong relationships with producers and sellers to expand business base

·         Negotiate and purchase grain (chickpeas, lentils, peas, and other specialty crops) to increase market share

·         Maintain trusted partnerships with farmers, brokers, and toll processors

·         Keep accurate daily records of grain received, grades, prices, volumes, and inventory

·         Purchase the right grain grades for domestic and export contracts

·         Coordinate timely deliveries to their destinations

·         Send daily bid/offer reports to management

·         Share weekly crop progress, harvest updates, and market trend reports

Grain Buyer – Qualifications

·         A degree in Ag-Business or related training (preferred)

·         2+ years of experience in grain buying or ag commodity procurement

·         A solid network of grower and elevator relationships

·         Experience with contract management and grain purchasing systems

·         Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

·         Comfort using Excel, Word, Outlook, and internal data systems

·         Highly organized with an ability to balance shifting priorities

·         Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally abroad (less than 10%)
