Job Summary A Call When Needed Wildland Firefighter (FFT2) at Chloeta will participate in wildfire prevention and mitigation for insurance structure protection. This role is primarily focused on property insurance protection rather than suppression activities. Firefighters will engage in physical training and work on projects such as basic tool maintenance, wildfire staging, homeowner assessments, data collection, and prescribed burn assignments.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Firefighters receive directions and operational details for work assignments from Engine Captains, Battalion Chiefs, Division Chiefs, and the Fire Chief.
Job Classification: Seasonal, Call When Needed. Variable Schedule and Hours
The duration of the season is determined by fire severity. Based on field availability, Call When Needed Firefighters may be requested to take varying assignment lengths, ranging from 7 to 21 days on an as-needed, month-to-month basis.
Duty Station: Call When Needed Firefighters deploy from home of record.
Travel: Yes, there is 90-100% travel to 15 Western US states involved with the position.
Compensation:
This pay band reflects Chloeta’s good faith estimate of the range it expects to offer; Chloeta reserves the right to alter this range if business circumstances change.
$18 per hour

Duties/Responsibilities
Conduct operations in accordance with the guidelines stated in the IRPG, incident-specific objectives, and agency-specific guidance.
Perform property triage and mitigation tasks, including constructing fire lines, preparing fire breaks, mopping up, felling small trees, removing vegetation, and installing sprinkler kits.
Conduct daily data collection on threatened policies and accurately enter the information into company databases.
Receive and execute daily work assignments from Engine Captains and/or higher authority.
Remain skilled in and properly apply modern fire suppression and prevention tactics, methods, and procedures.
Respond to incidents with their crew in a timely, safe and skilled manner.
Maintain accurate daily time documentation.
Maintain company-issued equipment to uphold and present a professional image of the company.
Operate effectively in high stress environments.
Must be proficient in utilizing technology such as computers and tablets/iPads.
Operate company vehicles and equipment safely and in strict adherence to both legal regulations and company policies.
Follow established Company procedure when responding to incidents.
Utilize all apparatus, tools, and equipment promptly and correctly for property protection.
Assist in the maintenance of assigned engine, tools, and equipment to ensure they remain in good operating and safe condition.
Maintain a positive working environment and strive to exceed the company and client’s needs.

Required Skills/Certifications
Must have a current/valid State Issued Driver License (DL).
Must be 21 years old.
A current national DOT Medical Examiner’s Certification, verified by the FMCSA.
(ICS-100) Introduction to ICS.
(IS-700) NIMS: An Introduction.
(L-180) Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service.
(S-130) – (Field Day Completion Preferred) Firefighter Training Basic.
(S-190) Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior.
Education and Experience
Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred: Previous firefighting experience.
License verification, education, and certifications must be provided at the time of application and can also be emailed to certification @chloeta. com.
Physical Requirements
Ability to pass a WCT (Work Capacity Test / “Pack Test”) at Arduous Level (Complete a 3-mile walk wearing a 45-pound pack in less than 45 minutes)
Must be able to lift, pull, or push up to 45lbs
Must maintain a prominent level of physical fitness.

Due to the nature of Chloeta’s services, this position is contingent upon completing with a satisfactory outcome some or all of the following pre-employment background screenings: government security clearance, federal and state criminal background checks, drug test (urinalysis), Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, educational history, employment history, and/or credit check. Emergency Response
Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
