Under direction, the Field Services Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to customers and their contractors. This support includes assisting in the erection, installation, and mechanical operation of new equipment in the field. Additionally, the Field Services Specialist provides Inspection Services, Preventative Maintenance Planning, and Shutdown Planning for customers. This position also supports and assists with inspecting fabricated equipment both in the shop and in the field, and supports other segments (Process Optimization, Training, and Automation).
Duties: Including but not limited to:
Assist contractors and customers in the erection and installation of new process equipment.Provide technical assistance and training to customers for the mechanical/process operation of equipment.
Prepare written field inspection reports and punch lists.
Provide Inspection Services, Preventative Maintenance Planning, and Shutdown Planning for customers.
Support other Field Services Segments (Process Optimization, Training, and Automation).
Perform fabricated equipment inspections in support of the global quality control program.
Coordinate with the Global Quality Assurance Director, Regional Quality Specialist, Project Management, and Field Service to schedule fabrication inspections.
Address issues and concerns, and prepare written fabricator inspection reports.
Work with the Global Quality Assurance Director and Regional Quality Specialists to ensure fabricators meet quality, drawing, and code requirements, generating product consistency among suppliers.
Coordinate with the purchasing/receiving department to evaluate locally fabricated equipment and parts, report issues and concerns, and prepare written supplier inspection reports.
Monitor fabrication schedules and report progress updates between fabricators and project management.
Observe all company and OSHA safety rules and follow fabricators’ and customers’ safety programs when on site.
Perform other duties as required and assigned by the Mechanical or Process Manager – Field Services.
Qualifications:
Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
2+ years of mechanical experience in equipment fabrication, installation, and/or checkout and startup.
Experience in one or more of the following skills:
Millwright work
Welding, inspection
Rigging
Field repair
Oilseeds Plant Operations
Ability to interpret equipment drawings and schematics is essential.
Demonstrated experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, creating value for end customers, and driving operational excellence within areas of responsibility.
Self-managing, takes initiative, and able to collaborate across geographies and functions in a matrixed environment.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
High integrity and ethics.
Must be able to communicate fluently in English. Ability to communicate in a second language (European or Asian languages preferred but not required).
Preferred knowledge in AutoCAD.
Knowledge of computers and applications such as Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions:
Approximately 50% of time spent in the office environment.
Office environment conditions are normal.
Approximately 50% of time spent in the plant environment.
Plant environment conditions include some exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise; potential work at heights, in confined spaces, and in inclement weather conditions.
