Overview:

We are on the lookout for a meticulous and experienced Senior Property Accountant to enhance our Accounting Department. The role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting and requires someone with a deep understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards, and in dept functional knowledge of Excel.  You will be responsible for managing all accounting functions for a portfolio of properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews and audits of monthly income and expenses for multiple properties.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Post journal entries and verify their accuracy for financial integrity.
  • Process vendor invoices and ensure payments are made promptly.
  • Oversee tenant billing and collections, including rent and ancillary charges.
  • Perform bank and security deposit reconciliations.
  • Prepare annual income and expense statements; compile rent rolls for municipal and lender reporting purposes.
  • Reconcile mortgage loan principal, interest, and escrow balances.
  • Engage actively in the permitting process, inspections, and warranty management.
  • Manage accounts payable, including invoice coding, vendor statements, and negotiations.
  • Handle the month-end closing process for a property portfolio.
  • Prepare detailed reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in Property Management, Real Estate, or Construction industries is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with strong knowledge of formulas and data manipulation functions.
  • Experience with accounting software, such as AvidXchange, is preferred.
  • Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish are preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP as it applies to real estate/property management.
