Job Title: RIDOT Chief Inspector – Night Shift

Location: Frenchtown Bridge, East Greenwich, RI

Our Award-Winning Client, a nationally recognized infrastructure consulting leader with a reputation for excellence across public transportation and civil engineering sectors, is actively searching for a highly experienced Chief Inspector to lead night shift field operations on a critical bridge construction initiative for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT). This opportunity is ideal for professionals with a robust background in bridge rehabilitation, paving oversight, and field team leadership.

Position Summary:The Chief Inspector will manage and supervise nighttime inspection staff on-site, ensuring all construction work adheres to RIDOT regulations, safety guidelines, and project milestones. The role requires extensive experience in infrastructure projects and a strong ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee all night shift inspection activities on bridge and hot mix asphalt paving operations

• Verify contractor adherence to RIDOT specifications, plans, and traffic safety measures

• Conduct reviews of contractor submittals and support ongoing quality assurance

• Document nightly activities including photo records, work logs, and daily progress reports

• Act as liaison between project engineers, RIDOT officials, and contractor teams

• Assist with processing of change orders, RFIs, and field-related resolutions

• Enforce environmental and safety compliance on-site throughout construction hours

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of seven (7) years of inspection experience on DOT roadway or bridge projects

• Prior supervisory or leadership experience as a Chief or Senior Inspector

• In-depth familiarity with bridge rehabilitation and paving methodologies

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to adapt to night shifts and weekend schedules as construction demands evolve

• Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation

Preferred Credentials:

• NETTCP Certification in Hot Mix Asphalt Paving Inspection

• Hands-on experience using RIDOT digital field reporting tools or inspection management platforms
