About the Opportunity:

Our Award Winning Client, a nationally recognized leader in outpatient surgical care, is currently seeking a highly experienced Surgery Center Administrator to oversee the operations of a dynamic and modern multispecialty ambulatory surgery center in Walnut Creek, CA. This high-performing facility features four advanced operating rooms and serves a wide range of specialties, including General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Pain Management, Urology, Podiatry, Hand Surgery, and Colorectal procedures.

This role is ideal for an accomplished healthcare leader with prior experience in ambulatory surgery center (ASC) management or hospital surgical services with exposure to ASC operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Facility Leadership & Operational Oversight:

  • Direct daily operations across departments to ensure seamless surgical services

  • Act as liaison between Governing Board, Medical Staff, and facility teams

  • Report to the Governing Board on key metrics and developments

  • Oversee compliance with operational agreements and legal contracts

  • Serve as the lead contact with the corporate office team during monthly performance reviews

Business & Financial Operations:

  • Implement and monitor operational frameworks (e.g., QPI, EDGETM)

  • Maintain strict adherence to regulatory standards and internal controls

  • Manage budgets, staffing models, and purchasing processes

  • Monitor financial indicators and adjust strategies to support sustainability

  • Oversee third-party contracts and ensure efficient vendor partnerships

Staff & Human Resources Management:

  • Lead all HR functions: hiring, staff evaluations, training, scheduling, compliance

  • Host regular team meetings to align facility goals and priorities

  • Supervise all clinical and administrative personnel performance and productivity

  • Support professional development and foster a positive work environment

Clinical Program Management:

  • Collaborate with medical leadership to maintain high standards of care

  • Supervise departments including Nursing, Central Supply, and Medical Records

  • Coordinate with contracted clinical service providers (e.g., lab, pharmacy, radiology)

  • Ensure availability and maintenance of all surgical and patient care equipment

  • Develop service expansion plans and align offerings with market needs

Quality Improvement & Regulatory Compliance:

  • Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives and track key performance indicators

  • Coordinate infection control, risk management, and patient safety programs

  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all clinical and operational domains

  • Participate in quality committees and drive policy enhancements

Physician Engagement & Credentialing:

  • Manage credentialing and support medical staff alignment with policies

  • Build positive relationships with providers and support physician growth

  • Monitor and support physician satisfaction and operational needs

Strategic Growth & Marketing:

  • Implement and lead sales/marketing initiatives in line with corporate growth strategies

  • Identify opportunities for new service lines relevant to the ASC setting

  • Represent the facility publicly and professionally to enhance community presence

Administrative & Professional Responsibilities:

  • Represent the facility in corporate and industry meetings

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional conduct standards

  • Stay current on changes in healthcare regulations and reimbursement models

  • Support a strong culture of accountability, service excellence, and leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Master’s or RN preferred)

  • Minimum 3 years of high-level leadership experience in an ASC or surgical hospital setting

  • Strong knowledge of ambulatory operations, compliance, and patient safety protocols

  • Exceptional communication and organizational leadership skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with surgeons, staff, and administrative partners

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, patient-focused ASC environment
