Our Award Winning Client, a leading nonprofit healthcare system headquartered in northwest Ohio, is actively seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Anatomic Pathology Laboratory to oversee the strategic and operational direction of assigned lab services. This leadership role focuses on fostering cross-functional collaboration, enhancing service quality, and driving system-wide improvements while ensuring alignment with the broader organizational mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for laboratory services in line with enterprise initiatives and clinical standards.

  • Drive departmental objectives around patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and financial performance.

  • Serve as the liaison with local hospital administration and stakeholders, promoting collaboration and active participation in hospital committees and quality improvement efforts.

  • Oversee and refine lab procedures to support safe, accurate, and efficient clinical operations using best practices.

  • Cultivate a high-performance team culture by supporting continuing education, conducting performance appraisals, promoting team engagement, and providing ongoing coaching.

  • Lead departmental budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure operational efficiency and fiscal responsibility.

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor managerial and technical staff to build leadership capacity and promote professional growth.

  • Maintain system-level standardization while adapting services to meet site-specific patient and clinical partner needs.

  • Ensure high levels of physician and customer satisfaction through timely resolution of issues and strong provider collaboration.

  • Maintain regulatory readiness and compliance with CAP, CLIA, DEA, and other healthcare oversight bodies.

  • Build and sustain local, regional, and national networks within the pathology and clinical laboratory space.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution

  • 5+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting

  • 3–5 years of leadership or management experience in lab operations

  • Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills essential for success in a complex health system environment

  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems and general computer use

Candidate Profile:

  • Senior-level laboratory or health system management experience

  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams and establish performance-driven culture

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • U.S. work authorization only

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for system integration or oversight
