Rheumatologist – Hospital-Based

Our Award-Winning Client, a nationally recognized healthcare leader, is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Rheumatologist to spearhead the development of a new, hospital-based Rheumatology practice in West Reading, Pennsylvania. This is a unique opportunity to establish and expand a vital service line in response to the increasing community demand. The new provider will receive multi-layered support from the Department of Medicine, with future growth planned for additional providers.

This position offers a collaborative environment within a well-established health system, with the opportunity to engage in teaching and research through an academic affiliation with Drexel University College of Medicine. Call coverage is approximately 1:6 and is shared with local private practice Rheumatologists. Advanced Practitioner support will be integrated into the practice for enhanced patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and grow a hospital-based Rheumatology division, working alongside a strong medical support team.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient Rheumatology consultations and ongoing management of patients with complex autoimmune diseases.
  • Collaborate with referring physicians, specialists, and the Department of Medicine to develop and expand services.
  • Participate in academic activities, including research and teaching opportunities with Drexel University College of Medicine.
  • Maintain a shared hospital call schedule (approximately 1:6) with local Rheumatologists.
  • Supervise and work in conjunction with Advanced Practitioners.

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Rheumatology.
  • Active or eligible medical license to practice in Pennsylvania.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A passion for practice development and expanding Rheumatology services.
  • Experience working within an academic or hospital-based setting.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to help build a successful division.
