Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our team in St Augustine. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate specialty care as directed by their primary care providers. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing referral processes, documenting medical necessity, and maintaining excellent communication with both patients and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and process patient referrals to external specialists and healthcare facilities, ensuring adherence to practice protocols.
  • Prioritize and address referral requests promptly, with a focus on urgent cases.
  • Review and verify documentation from healthcare providers to ensure the medical necessity of referrals.
  • Prepare and submit Service Denials for non-compliant referrals, in consultation with supervisory staff.
  • Compile and transmit necessary medical records and clinical information to specialists.
  • Serve as a point of contact for patients and providers regarding referral-related inquiries and issues.
  • Maintain a detailed log of processed referrals and submit monthly reports to management.
  • Communicate any referral issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
  • Strong focus on customer service and patient care.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Reliable follow-through and accountability for delegated tasks.
