Job Description: Network Engineer (Switch Replacement & Networking)Location: Chattanooga, TNDuration: Full-Time, 6-8 Weeks (Business Hours)

Overview:We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Network Engineer to assist with the replacement and configuration of network switches, as well as support Wi-Fi networking tasks. This role involves working with network hardware to remove old switches, install new equipment, and ensure proper configuration to maintain optimal network stability and performance. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with general networking tasks, troubleshooting, and adhering to best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Switch Replacement: Remove legacy switches and install new network switches as part of the upgrade project.
  • Configuration: Ensure proper configuration of switches to meet company network standards, including VLAN setup, IP addressing, and other networking settings.
  • Wi-Fi Networking: Assist with Wi-Fi networking tasks as needed, such as configuring access points and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any networking issues during the installation and configuration process, including performance issues or connectivity problems.
  • Documentation: Document changes to the network configuration, hardware installations, and any troubleshooting steps taken during the project.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT professionals and team members to ensure the success of the project.
  • General Networking: Assist with additional networking tasks as needed, which may include routing, cabling, or network security tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in network hardware installation, particularly with switches and routers.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, subnetting).
  • Experience with Wi-Fi network configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with various networking tools and diagnostic software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot network-related issues.
  • Ability to follow best practices and adhere to safety protocols during network installations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work on additional general networking tasks as required.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, business hours.
  • Duration: 6-8 weeks with potential for extension.
  • In-person work required at the Chattanooga, TN location.
