Role: Principal Sales Engineer - UK Public Sector πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

This is a remote, client-facing role for a highly technical and experienced presales professional with a strong Government/Public Sector background and ACTIVE DV CLEARANCE. As Principal Sales Engineer, you'll drive revenue by delivering technical presales support, demonstrating product value, and shaping best-fit solutions for UK public sector accounts. Act as a trusted advisor for public sector clients, leading technical discovery and supporting the full sales cycle while creating high-impact demos and presentations. Partner with product and engineering teams to influence roadmaps, mentor Sales Engineers, and build strong customer relationships while representing customer needs internally. Exceptional compensation package of Β£125,000-Β£155,000 plus 20% bonus, Β£7,200 car allowance, and extensive benefits with remote working and regular travel to customer sites.

βœ… ACTIVE DV (Developed Vetting) CLEARANCE REQUIRED
βœ… SC clearance candidates considered only in exceptional cases (must be eligible for DV)
βœ… 15+ years' experience in IT required
βœ… 10+ years in presales, network engineering, or technical support
βœ… Demonstrable success supporting UK Government or public sector clients
βœ… Strong expertise in Cisco routing, switching, gateways, and applications
βœ… Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP, Netflow, VoIP
βœ… Experience with LAN/WAN topologies (MPLS, Frame Relay, ATM)
βœ… Security concepts and network infrastructure design expertise
βœ… Network performance and fault/alert management experience
βœ… Operating systems knowledge - Linux and Windows
βœ… Cloud and virtualisation technologies - SDN/NFV, Public/Private Cloud
βœ… Performance tools experience - HP/OV, Tivoli, EMC SMARTS, ArcSight
βœ… Relevant certifications - CCNA, CCNP, CCIE
βœ… Formal presales training (e.g. Sandler, Siebel, Afterburner)
βœ… Excellent communication and presentation skills - verbal, written, and visual
βœ… Comfortable with 60-70% UK travel
βœ… Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical military training
βœ… MBA or relevant business/leadership qualification desirable
βœ… Knowledge of Arbor, Radwhere, Riverbed, A10, ExtraHop desirable
βœ… Track record of mentoring technical presales teams preferred
βœ… Based in Central or Southern UK preferred (Northern England considered for exceptional talent)
