Role: Principal Sales Engineer - UK Public Sector π¬π§

This is a remote, client-facing role for a highly technical and experienced presales professional with a strong Government/Public Sector background and ACTIVE DV CLEARANCE. As Principal Sales Engineer, you'll drive revenue by delivering technical presales support, demonstrating product value, and shaping best-fit solutions for UK public sector accounts. Act as a trusted advisor for public sector clients, leading technical discovery and supporting the full sales cycle while creating high-impact demos and presentations. Partner with product and engineering teams to influence roadmaps, mentor Sales Engineers, and build strong customer relationships while representing customer needs internally. Exceptional compensation package of Β£125,000-Β£155,000 plus 20% bonus, Β£7,200 car allowance, and extensive benefits with remote working and regular travel to customer sites.
Requirements: π

ACTIVE DV (Developed Vetting) CLEARANCE REQUIRED
β
SC clearance candidates considered only in exceptional cases (must be eligible for DV)
β
15+ years' experience in IT required
β
10+ years in presales, network engineering, or technical support
β
Demonstrable success supporting UK Government or public sector clients
β
Strong expertise in Cisco routing, switching, gateways, and applications
β
Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP, Netflow, VoIP
β
Experience with LAN/WAN topologies (MPLS, Frame Relay, ATM)
β
Security concepts and network infrastructure design expertise
β
Network performance and fault/alert management experience
β
Operating systems knowledge - Linux and Windows
β
Cloud and virtualisation technologies - SDN/NFV, Public/Private Cloud
β
Performance tools experience - HP/OV, Tivoli, EMC SMARTS, ArcSight
β
Relevant certifications - CCNA, CCNP, CCIE
β
Formal presales training (e.g. Sandler, Siebel, Afterburner)
β
Excellent communication and presentation skills - verbal, written, and visual
β
Comfortable with 60-70% UK travel
β
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical military training
β
MBA or relevant business/leadership qualification desirable
β
Knowledge of Arbor, Radwhere, Riverbed, A10, ExtraHop desirable
β
Track record of mentoring technical presales teams preferred
β
Based in Central or Southern UK preferred (Northern England considered for exceptional talent)
