Our client, a North American leader in packaging with world-class print and production capabilities, is hiring a Maintenance Technician to join their Markham, ON facility.This role focuses on supporting production through hands-on maintenance of advanced packaging machinery. The afternoon shift is the current hiring priority, with potential for additional day shift positions to follow.

 

Maintenance Technician Details

  • Permanent, full-time position, located in Markham, ON
  • Afternoon shift runs 3:00pm to 11:00pm with a $0.75/hr shift premium
  • $40.00/hr for candidates without a trade ticket; $45.00+/hr for candidates with a valid 433A Millwright license
  • 5% annual bonus
  • Two weeks’ vacation
  • Benefits available after probationary period
  • Work requires use of PPE (hearing protection, safety shoes, eye protection) and the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs

 

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain machinery, equipment, facilities, systems, and grounds to support continuous production
  • Complete work orders and requests in a timely manner, prioritizing critical repairs and minimizing downtime
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire systems
  • Schedule repairs and installations to reduce disruption to production flow
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external specialists for more complex maintenance tasks
  • Document work performed and provide updates on progress, schedules, and completion status
  • Work safely at all times, adhering to company protocols and using required PPE

 

Maintenance Technician Qualifications

  • Valid 433A Millwright license, or equivalent maintenance experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred
  • 2–4 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance; background in corrugated packaging machinery is required
  • Candidates from the food packaging industry (making packaging, not producing food) are encouraged to apply
  • Experience with Weber, Holweg, or Triumph T2 equipment is a strong asset
  • Solid knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and leadership
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, moving machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
