Overview
The Instructional Designer works with stakeholders to identify training needs and create effective learning materials. This role develops eLearning, instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning solutions using adult learning principles. Responsibilities include maintaining course content, conducting needs assessments, evaluating training effectiveness, and managing the instructional design process from concept through delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop engaging learning programs (eLearning, ILT, vILT, microlearning, blended).
Apply accessibility standards and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
Create storyboards, scripts, and supporting learning assets.
Manage course content within learning systems and ensure timely access for users.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze job tasks and build role-specific training.
Lead review cycles, quality-check training materials, and maintain documentation.
Support train-the-trainer efforts and evaluate program outcomes.
Ensure consistency with instructional design standards and learning best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Sciences, or related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in instructional design or training development preferred.
Experience with learning management systems and authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Relias, Workday Learning, Docebo).
Experience designing content for diverse learners; healthcare or clinical training experience a plus.
Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and eLearning standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic media/graphic tools (e.g., Canva).
Basic HTML5/JavaScript knowledge helpful but not required.
Other Requirements
Strong analytical, communication, and project-management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional partners.
Occasional travel for meetings or training facilitation.
Frequent computer use; ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
